Graduated from the College of Agriculture in Brno – Faculty of Business and Economics. Between 1993 and 1996 he worked for První Slezská Banka as a banking product consultant. The following four years he spent at the Czech National Bank. In 1996 the Council of the Czech National Bank appointed him receiver of Velkomoravská Banka. From 2000 to 2007 he was a member of the Board of Directors and CFO of Středočeská plynárenská, a.s. and subsequently of Aero Vodochody, a.s. - he was in charge of the entire accounting section, taxes, financial management, and treasury. From 2007 to January 2011 he worked at the Ministry of Finance of the Czech Republic as the chief director of Asset Administration. On behalf of the Ministry of Finance he sat on the supervisory boards of ČSA, RWE Transgas, KUPEG Credit Insurance, Osinek, Sokolovská uhelná, MERO Germany.
