Export Bank has entered the new year with the successful completion of
negotiations with the state enterprise Montenegro Railways that has created the
foundations for the realisation of large-scale and technically demanding
commissions for the reconstruction of the railway line between the towns of
Nikšić and Podgorica. This reconstruction will be carried out by the Czech
enterprise Železniční stavitelství Brno,
which has already also signed the appropriate contract worth almost EUR 50
million.
The volume of contracts for the provision of credit and for the issuing of
guarantees that Czech Export Bank signed with its clients in 2005 exceeded CZK
18 billion, a year-on-year rise of around 6.5%. This means that CEB's position
in the system of state export support as well as on the banking market, on
which it is profiling itself as the leader in its specialised segment, has
continued to strengthen. CEB has thus pro-financed both large business cases
worth several billions of crowns and also export cases for SMEs, which make up
a not insignificant share of CEB's commercial activities. In accordance with
the bank's mission, on the basis of its qualified knowledge of the Czech
economy, the bank has succeeded in offering financing with state support to a
series of new clients.
The greatest interest in support is shown by enterprises for expansion into
countries outside the EU and into other developed markets. The great majority
of future exports and also investments financed by CEB will be directed to
countries that only in exceptional cases make up over 2% of Czech exports, but
which represent territories with great growth, and thus also import, potential.
The structure of the CEB portfolio has also confirmed the changes over recent
years, in particular with the strengthening of the share of financing of
production for export: almost one-quarter of the signed contracts secure
financing for exporters' production in this country. CEB clients have won the
largest commissions for the export of components for the aviation industry,
special freight ships, technology for the manufacture of packaging glass and
now also for the implementation of infrastructure projects (roads, railways and
other projects). The largest volumes of CEB financing were for exporter and
investor contracts in Azerbaijan,
in Russia, in Ukraine and in other CIS countries, but also for
example in Holland.
Greater and greater demand as well as concrete business cases for expansion
into the Balkans are appearing, new opportunities are showing themselves in Vietnam and in Mongolia,
and markets in Latin America are once again
opening.
CEB provides Czech exporters with state supported export financing and
financial services connected with the export of goods and investments, thus
allowing Czech exporters to compete on international markets under conditions
comparable to those enjoyed by their main competitors from other developed
countries. All CEB activities are fully compliant with World Trade Organization
(WTO) rules, the applicable recommendations of the Organisation for Economic
Co-operation and Development (OECD) and European Union directives. CEB actively
cooperates with other state support organisations, in particular with the Czech
Trade agency, and uses EGAP insurance. The CEB mission
is to support entrepreneurs through the most advantageous financing and not to
maximise its own profits. CEB has the same rating as the Czech Republic.
